Ati radeon hd 5770 bad performance?

Mmkay, my graphics card is the one stated above, when playing games like skyrim they run like absolute crap until i run the latest ati driver update (which my card already has installed) i experimented with this issue a little, Battlefield bad company 2, saints row 3 and skyrim all lag on lowest graphics and 800x600 resolution until i run the latest ati update (which i have already ran and installed in another session) and then its fine running at high-ultra smoothly at max res until i turn my computer off, then i have to do this all again.

I hope this is understandable, im not very good at explaining things.

Thanks,

Ben.

Running Windows 7 ultimate

Amd athlon 640ii x4 oc'd to 3.4ghz

ati radeon 5770 1gb ddr5

8gb corsair ram ddr3

750w power supply|||Have you disabled the onboard graphics (if you had that) through the BIOS?

Have you un-installed any other software associated wit the old graphics card?

Uninstall all software associated with your new card and shut down.

Line up the card with the PCI Express slot and press the card down in the slot. Make sure it is well seated and that the retainer clip (if your board has one) clicks into place. Screw the card down to the case.

Hook up the six-pin power connector to the card. Either use your power supply's six-pin connector if it has one or use the Molex to six-pin adapter that came with the card. Make sure the power plug clicks into place.

Turn the computer on and make sure the fan is turning and the computer starts up correctly. Then put the side cover back on. After Windows boots, the display may look funny until the appropriate video drivers are installed. To install the latest drivers, download the latest drivers from the ATI website instead of using the supplied CD from the video card box (sometimes those drivers are outdated).

Go to the ATI website (ati.com) and fill out the information on the top right of the screen under the "Download Drivers" section. Click "View Results." Then download the Catalyst Suite on the next page. Save the installation file to your hard drive and then open it when it has finished downloading.

If the User Account Control appears, click "Yes."

On the next window, check the components you want to install. Make sure the checkbox next to "ATI Catalyst Driver" is checked. Then click "Next."

Click "Install." On the next screen, select your language and click "Next."

Click "Install" and then choose "Express" on the next screen and click "Next." After reading the conditions of usage, click "Accept" on the next window. The drivers will subsequently install.

Restart your computer.|||have you tried creating a restore point in system restore yet and see if it saves it???
