Will Un-installing my Ati HD 5770 Driver (complete wipe-out!) Stop Me From Seeing Anything On My Display?

Hi, I have a Dell xps 8100 with an Hd 5770 ati graphic card running on windows 7 home premium 64

bit. Currently i use my graphic card via hdmi for video and sound so would uninstalling it stop me from seeing anythong on screen? I want to completly remove the driver for my graphic card and install a fresh install of the driver software.|||no, for a couple reasons.

1 when you uninstall or disable hardware, you must restart and supposeing you actually delete al associated files when yuo do thi, windows will re-install a generic driver which will have an ati driver...|||No not at all, the only thing that would happen is that the resolution may change and from my guess, you are using it on a plasma or lcd tv as you are using a HDMI connection so it will be best to connect it using a VGA or DVI cable to a computer monitor before doing that. What you have to remember first is that when a new graphics card is placed inside a computer, people would need to be able to install the software for the card. All graphics cards are capable of working without its software (driver) so that when people install the graphics card they can easily use windows and install the correct software otherwise how else would people be able to install the graphics card software without a working graphics card in the first place. Once you remove the driver, windows will switch over and use a generic version of the driver (a driver that is capable on all graphics cards to use basic features)|||I own this card. Do your self a favor. These are instructions from XFX for a support ticket I have going for a problem I am having. I figure this part would help you.

We highly recommend Driver Sweeper from

http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php… Download it and install the cleaner. Do not run it yet. Uninstall the current video drivers through the Control Panel Add/Remove Programs utility in the control

panel. Reboot into safe mode by pressing F8 repeatedly after the POST screen but before windows loads. Use the driver cleaner to clean only the NVIDIA Display and ATI Display (if present) drivers. In Vista you will

have to right click the shortcut and select Run as Administrator. Install the latest drivers from the desktop and reboot into windows normally.

The one thing wrong with the above advice is after you use the Driver Sweeper in safe mode reboot. Do not install the drivers in safe mode. Otherwise the advice is solid. Hope this helps. Good Luck.|||Nope, you'll still see your desktop.

Because your mother board has a little bit of on board graphics.
