Will 550 watt power supply support 2 ati radeon hd 5770's in cross fire x mode?

i run a dual core @ 1.8 ghz and 4 gb of ram i have a 550 watt powersupply will it support 2 ati hd 5770's|||550W is a decent amount of power but that's cutting it close. If it does work, you probably won't get as much performance from your system overall compared to if you ran e.g., a Corsair 750W power supply. The type of PSU you have also matters. Is it true power? Some say 550W but they are more like 300W. You should be able to call Radeon or visit their website to see the specs on power requirements. If you can, buy a modular, CorsairHK750 or higher, Professional Series PSU.

My guess is that it will work but it's not ideal. You could try it for a week and see. Also, check temps. of your system, the GPU's and the CPU.

A 750Watt supply will also run much cooler and more efficiently than a maxed out 550 which will run much hotter and supply less stable voltages. A PSU only outputs the power that is needed.

Since the GPU's will be drawing the most power, there is always a trade off, e.g., the MOBO and CPU and memory will get less power=less performance.|||Probably. But you should upgrade just to sure. 750w+ would be a safer bet.
