Just wondering, got a hd 5770 ASUS 512MB and it's running perfectly find on OCZ 500W ModXstream, very stable.
Would it be ok running it in crossfire?
It's a quality psu, I know that but it's cutting it close to total 12v amperage it can deliver. I also plan on getting 2 kingston 30GB ssds to go with my hdd which loads on to power - I have 5 120MM fans and 2 140MM fans, 1 IDE DVD drive which I never use and the athlon 640 + 8GB DDR3 ram.
I'm assuming the psu will do fine but it's life may be cut down quite a lot. I can't get a new psu, however, I could have the chance of getting the hd 6950 1GB or hd 5870 but not as good a motherboard, I could get a basic £34 motherboard instead of a £100 one to crossfire. Though it'd mean cutting out not getting a new heatsink but I probably wont overclock anyway.
Will it do fine? If not then I'm getting 6950/5870 which use far less power.
Please do not answer if you have not researched or had the psu your self.|||be sure yer psu can power it|||i wouldnt run two 5770s on anything less than a 600watt PSU.
also they have to be two 512 meg versions that isnt very good, i would just sell it and grab a 6950 hd (better card than the 5870 hd as more games become directx 11 compliant) and use your current PSU for that but im not sure i would even run a 6950 hd on anything less than a corsair tx650w
