I have a constant idle fan speed of 36% running at about 1405rpm
I have the stock cooler for the gpu, an outtake fan directly under the gpu, and i have my overhead fan constantly running on high to keep the room cool
my os is windows 7 64bit, and my ati drivers were updated today.|||Sure, that's quite cool. MUCH lower than the previous generation Radeon 4850 and 4870, which regularly hit the high 80's under load.
When reviewed by Techspot, the Radeon 5770 averaged an idle temperature of 47C and load temperature of 74C.
Your temps could easily be up to 10 degrees higher or lower depending upon the specific manufacturer (XFX, MSI, Sapphire, ECS etc) since they all utilize different GPU heatsink/cooling designs... but you're well within normal range.
http://www.techspot.com/review/209-ati-r…|||More than acceptable. It's actually a very cool idle temperature. Most video cards run around 60*C on idle and hit up to 80*C on load. That is more than within safe limits.
My 4850 runs at 62*C on idle and my 3870 ran about 50*C on idle.
But to be honest, the idle temperatures are irrelevant for two reasons:
1. The max temperature the device can take does not change from when you are on load to when you are on idle. So only load temperatures (the highest) are relevant.
2. At lower temperatures, monitoring programs are not accurate.
If you want to check your load temperatures, running a game and keeping track of those temperatures would be a good way to do it. Another way is to download and run a program called "Furmark" with the "extreme burning mode" box checked. The temperature it reaches with that is a temperature it will never go over.
But as I said, 53*C is a good idle temperature and with your fan ramping up on load, it is unlikely that it gets even near too hot.
